what i have learnt from my AS results

I unfortunately got a D in my media court for AS levels which disappointed me as i should have worked much harder than I did last year. I should have put a bit more effort into my course work, than i did, which would have made my exam easier as I never perform well in exams in any subject. This year I need to really push had to get the best grade possible to make my exam easier and to prove to myself that i can work efficiently on my own and that i am capable enough to do this course to a high standard. As i didn't really prove that to myself last year due to laziness and lack of organisation.

applying music theory to little mix

Applying Music Theory to Little Mix’s: Shout out to my ex Little mix are a girl group that are one of the first group to win the X Factor, and are currently signed with Simon Cowell’s record label Syco music. The genre of the music that their music is based on is pop, and their main target audience are teenage girls. Their hit song “shout out to my ex” is about going through a break up and how they are doing just fine without them and that they are much happier without them. Throughout the music video its shows the girls being close and having a laugh together, which shows how the break up has given them a feeling of self-empowerment and that shows how their friendship has become stronger as they are having fun together throughout the music video. The song also become quite popular due to the fact that Zayn and Little Mix’s Perrie Edwards has split at the time which made the song very popular in the media and got the band extra attention. E. Ann Kaplan Key Text Rocking Around The Clock : Music Television, Post Modernism and Consumer Culture (1987) Key Points This text focussed on MTV and was published 5 years after MTV had launched. We were still 5 years away from the internet being 'born' and the world was a different place because of this. Remember that, at this time, if you wanted to watch a music video then you had to wait for it to be shown on a channel such as MTV (which not everyone had access to of course as it was a satellite channel) or one of the popular free to air music shows such as 'Top Of The Pops'.  As a consumer of music videos, you had no control over what you were shown which meant that channels like MTV could build up to 'event style' showings such as that for Michael Jackson's 'Thriller'.  Kaplan identified music videos as a post-modern form of the media. This means that they subverted of disregarded the expected conventions of film-making. For example, editin...

My favourite music video

Image
This is my favourite music video because at the start it tells a story before the music starts and when it does start, it shows amazing dancing and people in masks which makes it something different and unlike normal R&B music it doesn't show a sexual representation of women either . It also it aesthetically pleasing as it has lots of lights, incredible dancing which being a R&B they have that representation of being able to dance at a high level. And the music video is just something different within itself as it has people wearing animal masks, and cabs that can float so its just something out there that people would watch as it is different.

How I consume music

How I consume music When it comes to music listen to all sorts of genres as I love music and I don’t a specific preference when it comes to music, as I love music as it is a big part of society and it brings people together as everyone listens to music and has a preference on what type of music they listen to.  However, I mostly listen to RnB, pop and rock. But I also I have listened to heavy metal, house music, etc. In addition to this the genre I don’t actually like is classical because I think it’s boring and don’t enjoy listening to it.  When purchasing music, I tend to download it on a music app at the moment in time I use an app called Deezer which is an app that lets you stream music for £10 a month which I find convenient as you can download all the new content for an affordable price a month instead, of paying a £10-15 for one album. Also there is no limit to the amount of music you can download meaning you can build a massive playlist without, having to have a ...
